Position: Loan Development Officer (term)

Location: Thompson Manitoba with option to work remotely within Manitoba

Communities Economic Development Fund, lead entity for the delivery of the Look North Initiative is recruiting a Loan Development Officer, for its head office based in Thompson, MB with option to work remotely within Manitoba.

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Loan Development Officer to engage and grow our Business Loans and Commercial Fisheries Loan Programs for a one-year term. This role is pivotal in supporting the financial success of businesses and fishers by identifying loan opportunities, assessing creditworthiness, and delivering timely loan solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in all aspects of the Business Loan and Commercial Fisheries Loan Program:
  • Review loan applications & discuss with potential clients
  • Explain the parameters of CEDF funding, explore other financing possibilities, and determine course of action.
  • Liaise with other agencies, departments, public and private sector lending institutions.
  • Assist clients in completing loan applications and gathering necessary documentation.
  • Monitor and manage loan portfolios to ensure timely repayments and address any issues.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of lending regulations, policies, and industry trends.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, communities, and other stakeholders.
  • Identify and develop new loan opportunities through networking, referrals, and outreach activities.
  • Prepare and present reports on loan activities and performance to Management.
  • Performance of all other duties assigned by the CEO.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economic Development, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Experience in the financial industry; small business financing experience is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of economic development principles and lending practices.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database management systems.
  • Strong organizational skills with a proactive approach to follow-up and reporting.
