Job Duties
- Manage day-to-day customs clearance operations
- Ensure all documentation is accurately prepared for seamless client onboarding.
- Supervise documentation and customs team
- Coordinate with freight, warehousing, and client service teams.
- Ensure timely submission of all declarations/shipments
- Manage escalations, exceptions and CBSA queries.
- Maintain proper records for audits and ensure all documentation complies with customs regulations.
- Monitor KPIs (release times, compliance rates, client satisfaction).
- Provide guidance/support to junior staff and ensure they are up to date on customs procedures.
- Maintain and oversee operations platforms, ensuring regular monitoring, data accuracy, and optimal functionality to support project tracking and team collaboration.
- Serve as a liaison and provide coverage when needed.
- Resolve operational issues and escalate complex cases to the Director.
- Any other responsibility as reasonably assigned
Requirements
- At least 7-10 years of progressive experience in Customs Brokerage, out to which 5 years in the supervisory capacity.
- Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) OR CTCS
- CBSA Professional Designation is an asset
- Strong knowledge of CBSA Regulations and the Canadian Customs
- Strong and current knowledge of ITMR4, MS Office products, and ability to quickly adapt to new software
- Proven hands-on experience managing 3-5 operations staff.
- Commercial awareness and a thorough understanding of the competitive landscape.
