About Our Client: Our client is the nation’s leading not-for-profit, private land conservation organization. Employees can choose between Remote First, Hybrid or in Office (with locations in Toronto and Montreal) This position can be based out of the GTA, Montreal or Ottawa with some travel to the Toronto or Montreal offices for meetings. Position Scope: The Manager, Human Resources provides human resources expertise via subject matter expertise, advice and counsel to leaders and employees across Canada. Reporting to the Chief People Officer (CPO), the incumbent will be responsible for advising leaders and employees on areas related to HR legislation, systems, policies and processes as well as industry best practices, and Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, with a focus on the employee experience. Responsibilities: Provides advice and counsel to employees on the content and interpretation of HR Policies and on various HR legislation. Assists with the annual review of HR Policies. Counsels and coaches leaders by providing proactive guidance and direction on employee relations issues. Conducts HR orientation for managers and executive. Responsible for ability management for employees regarding accommodations, work-related leaves, and short/long-term disability leaves, ensuring that regular communication occurs, and that appropriate supporting medical documentation is received. Acts as a liaison with benefits providers, 3rd party consultants as necessary, and provides support and guidance to successful return-to-work programs. Supports the annual performance review and merit process, by supporting leaders with various contributing processes and feedback mechanisms. Contributes to the development of internal talent via facilitation of programming and best practices recommendations of internal/external development. In collaboration with peers, ensures the effective and efficient administration of the performance management process by advising, educating and coaching leaders on feedback vehicles and processes, and encouraging employees to actively participate in the identification and addressing of any performance gaps. Partners with managers on workforce planning and talent management, including recruitment strategies for challenging to fill and senior roles, and advises on full-cycle recruitment and selection steps with an EDI lens. Supports leaders in the monthly job evaluation process. Assists with the identification and facilitation of internal career progression for employees. Develops and delivers HR training as needed or appropriate. Acts as an HR liaison on EDI and Indigenous engagement initiatives Contributes and partners on various continuous improvement initiatives within the HR Team. Required Skills and Knowledge: Strong knowledge of provincial employment legislation and practices across Canada. Strong business acumen and communication skills. Strong computer skills related to MS Office: Outlook/Word/Excel/PowerPoint. Solid collaboration and interpersonal skills, with proven ability to work with employees at all levels across the organization. Excellent project management, time management, and organizational skills, with the ability to appropriately prioritize competing needs. Proven analytical and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated track record of dealing with sensitive information and issues with a high degree of diplomacy and confidentiality. Education and Experience: University Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. CHRP, CHRL Certification or equivalent 5+ years of progressively responsible HR generalist experience, including full-cycle talent management and leave management. Leadership experience highly preferred Fluently bilingual in English/French (written and verbal) is preferred. Experience working in a national organization that operates within multiple provinces. Demonstrated experience working with EDI initiatives, bringing about positive, meaningful and sustainable organizational change and producing measurable results.
