Medical Writer (Vision Science / Ophthalmology)
Remote – Canada
Our client, a specialized clinical research organization focused exclusively on ophthalmology and optometry, is looking for a Medical Writer to join their growing team in a fully remote position open across Canada.
For more than 10 years, our client has been dedicated to advancing clinical research in ophthalmology and optometry. Working alongside leading eye care professionals and organizations, they have contributed to more than 30 clinical research projects, helping transform innovative ideas into impactful scientific publications and conference presentations.
From study startup and regulatory submissions to data analysis and manuscript development, they provide end-to-end support to investigators conducting research in eye care. Their expertise has helped researchers accelerate timelines, generate meaningful scientific insights, and increase the visibility of their work within the ophthalmology and optometry communities.
As demand for their services continues to grow, they are looking for a Medical Writer who is passionate about scientific communication and eager to play a key role in bringing high-quality ophthalmic research to publication.
About the Role
This is a permanent remote position open to candidates across Canada.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting scientific publications and helping researchers communicate their findings through peer-reviewed journals and scientific conferences.
Responsibilities may include:
- Conduct literature reviews and evidence synthesis
- Draft, edit, and revise manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication
- Prepare conference abstracts, posters, and presentation materials
- Support study protocol development and informed consent documents
- Assist with ethics and regulatory submission packages
- Collaborate with investigators and internal stakeholders throughout the publication process
- Organize references, figures, and supporting scientific content
About You
- PhD in Vision Science, Optometry, Ophthalmology, Neuroscience (vision-related), or a related discipline
- OD designation considered a strong asset
- Strong understanding of ophthalmology and/or optometry
- Demonstrated track record of peer-reviewed scientific publications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience preparing manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and scientific presentations
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment
Preferred Experience
- First-author publication experience
- Experience responding to journal reviewer comments
- Familiarity with clinical research methodology
- Experience in ophthalmology, optometry, retina, glaucoma, ocular surface disease, or related fields
Tools & Technology
Experience with the following is considered an asset:
- Microsoft Office
- Zotero or other reference management software
- PubMed and scientific literature databases
- AI/LLM tools for scientific writing support
- Zoom and other virtual collaboration platforms
