The Mental Health Team Leader provides support and clinical supervision to the Mental Health team. The Mental Health team offers services that include but are not limited to; assessments, counselling (one to one and group), and referrals for children, youth, and families living with mental health challenges and/or substance misuse. The Mental Health team is committed to providing services that are offered from a holistic wellness framework.<br/><br/>This position requires strong leadership skills and advanced knowledge and clinical experience in mental health and concurrent disorders in the context of Indigenous communities. Exceptional communication, critical thinking and organizational skills are necessary to be successful in this role. The selected individual will be responsible for direct supervision of the mental health team. The Mental Health Team Leader will be responsible for assisting with ongoing crisis prevention and intervention, assessment, case management, and co-ordination of appropriate community referrals for follow up as needed. The position oversees the day-to-day program operations while providing oversight and decision-making regarding program needs, requirements, and development in collaboration with management. The Mental Health Team Leader will provide quality assurance for staff and clients through regular monitoring and auditing to ensure contractual and regulatory compliance.<br/><br/>Education and Experience<br/><br/>Clinical Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology or related field or PhD in relevant field.<br/><br/>Registered with the British Columbia College of Social Work or British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors or eligibility for registration.<br/><br/>Minimum of 3 years of Clinical experience in the field of child and youth mental health and knowledge of concurrent disorders and substance use<br/><br/>Experience working with Indigenous communities is strongly preferred.<br/><br/>Knowledge of clinical experience in multiple therapeutic and intervention modalities with varied age groups, inclusive of individual, family, and group counselling.<br/><br/>Clinical experience in crisis intervention inclusive of suicide risk assessments.<br/><br/>Skills and Abilities<br/><br/>Ability to work, and collaborate as part of a multi-disciplinary, diverse team and respect all viewpoints.<br/><br/>Recognize the importance of incorporating Indigenous culture into healing and wellness.<br/><br/>Ability to handle crisis and participate in crisis intervention assistance.<br/><br/>Strong understanding of social, economic, political, and historical concerns in First Nation communities.<br/><br/>Possessing knowledge of child and youth mental health with extensive knowledge of concurrent disorders and chemical dependency issues is required.<br/><br/>Working Conditions<br/><br/>Travel to each of the seven communities.<br/><br/>Potential for Violence in the workplace<br/><br/>May be required to work some Non-standard hours of work connected to services and community needs.<br/><br/>Receives regular supervision with direction and check of the work performed.<br/><br/>Conditions of Employment<br/><br/>Must be able to obtain and maintain a Criminal Record Check.<br/><br/>Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid BC Driver’s License.<br/><br/>Must provide a vehicle in good operating condition and appropriate vehicle insurance to meet program requirements.<br/><br/>#J-18808-Ljbffr
