New Business Development/Sales Representative

Location: Niagara/Hamilton, ON

Position Type: Permanent Full-Time

Reporting to: Regional Sales Manager

Start Date: Immediately

Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week

Compensation:

Base salary: $65,000 per annum

$80,000 – $130,000, inclusive of base salary and commissions, plus additional benefits such as car allowance, gas reimbursement, health benefits, pension plan, and more. Opportunity to earn beyond the stated range based on sales growth

Summary:

Reporting to the Regional Sales Manager, the Sales Representative works to develop and maintain business relationships with institutions, commercial, and industrial waste clients to grow the commercial business in Niagara/Hamilton corridor. The successful candidate will serve the Niagara/Hamilton corridor markets and work independently to develop leads, engage in the sales process, and close opportunities to drive growth.

This Sales Representative role offers a competitive base salary, commission, and performance-based bonuses, providing high earning potential for motivated individuals.

Responsibilities:

In the position of Sales Representative your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Identify, quantify and categorize lead opportunities on potential new clients via referrals, cold calling, etc., to obtain maximum sales and volume from all commercial sectors in assigned territory.
  • Set up appointments and make sales presentations.
  • Prepare special or standard proposals tailored to individual prospects.
  • Keep informed on competitive services, promotional matters, sales techniques, pricing and use marketing policies.
  • Utilize resources and perform research to determine sales patterns and strategies. (e.g. CRM program).
  • Support and educate customers on MWSI services, programs, industry trends.
  • Increase win-loss ratios utilizing sales strategies and effective time management.
  • Work with local Miller Waste Systems teams to achieve growth results.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a sales/business development role, preferably in an industrial setting, is a requirement.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a highly interactive and engaging team.
  • Strong prospecting skills, including lead identification, research, and targeted outreach.
  • Resilience and persistence in handling rejection and maintaining consistent follow-up.
  • Understanding of the sales funnel, including lead generation, qualification, and closing techniques.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CRM systems, and other sales tools to effectively manage leads and sales activity.
  • Must be able to self-manage time and resources to achieve goals.
  • Access to a reliable vehicle for business use is a requirement.
  • Flexibility is required at times to meet customer needs or to deliver on special projects.
