Job Title: Payroll Administrator

Location: Winnipeg

Work Model: [Hybrid- 4 days a week onsite]

Duration: 3 months Contract (Potential Extension)

Rate: CAD$30/hr on T4

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Administrator to support payroll operations across Canadian and U.S. employee groups. This role will primarily focus on end-to-end payroll processing while also providing support for benefits, pension, and absence administration. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and possess strong analytical, customer service, and compliance knowledge.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process and validate multiple payroll cycles across various pay frequencies for Canadian and U.S. employees, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
  • Compile, process, and remit withholding orders in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Review payroll audits, reports, and reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Respond to employee inquiries and provide exceptional customer service throughout the employee lifecycle.
  • Support benefits, pension, and absence administration activities as required.
  • Maintain compliance with payroll, benefits, pension, and absence legislation in Canada and the United States.
  • Interpret and apply company policies, payroll regulations, and union agreements where applicable.
  • Investigate payroll discrepancies and implement corrective actions in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with HR, Finance, Benefits, and external vendors to ensure seamless payroll operations.
  • Support continuous process improvements and maintain accurate payroll records and documentation.

Requirements:

  • 3-5+ years of payroll administration experience in a large, complex, or multinational organization.
  • Experience processing full-cycle payroll for Canadian employees; U.S. payroll experience is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of payroll legislation, compliance requirements, deductions, and remittances.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines in a high-volume environment.
  • Excellent customer service and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with payroll, HRIS, and time management systems.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification or equivalent payroll experience.
  • Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) designation.
  • Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) designation.
  • Experience supporting benefits, pension, and absence administration.
  • Experience with Workday (Payroll and HRIS), SAP, Kronos, STAS, or other workforce management systems.
  • Experience working within unionized environments.
  • Bilingual in English and French.
  • Experience supporting both Canadian and U.S. payroll operations.
