Description
Responsible for managing the financial operations of a manufacturing facility. Specifically overseeing budgeting, accounting, taxes and financial reporting, ensuring that the plant operates efficiently and remains profitable. Analyzes financial performance, to provide strategic recommendations, and ensure compliance with regulations.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the month-end and year-end close processes while preparing financial statements (balance sheets, income statements) in accordance with Canadian GAAP
- Explain major P&L variances and operational KPIs (scrap %, downtime, headcount, energy efficiency, etc.)
- Development and submission of Year End Reporting Package in line with Bericap Global guidelines
- Monitor and report on Capital Expenditures (Capex).
Accounting Operations
- Overall responsibility for all company accounting cycles: Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Costing, Fixed Assets and Inventory
- Manage Treasury activities; monitoring collections, scheduling payments and developing cashflow projections.
Compliance Audits
- Manage external financial audits, ensuring adherence to accounting rules and timely completion
- Coordinate timely development and submission of Tax filings; with the assistance of our Tax Advisors.
Internal Controls
- Establish, monitor, and enforce financial policies to safeguard company assets and mitigate the risk of fraud or errors
Budgets and Forecasts
- Develop financial forecast in a monthly basis; considering demand performance, cost developments and savings initiatives.
- Manage the annual budget process. This includes coordination with all Plant Areas to capture cost to produce analyzing spending variances, and forecasting revenue streams.
Other
- Ensure all quality, food safety, safety, environmental as well all other Company policies and procedures are followed
- Ensure that all quality, food safety, safety, and environmental issues are reported to the appropriate manager or supervisor
- Demonstrate leadership and commitment with respect to the local site’s management systems, by reviewing issues reported by their employees, attending management reviews, ensuring adequate resources, and promoting continuous improvement
- Identify issues and report them using the See It, Sort It, Report It system

Education
- University degree in Accounting or Finance
- Completed or enrolled in 3rd or 4th year CMA or CGA
Experience
- 3-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing multi-disciplinary accounting department
- 2 years of supervisory or managerial experience
