Introduction

Brunel is partnering with a leading global organization in the life sciences sector to support a Procurement Specialist 9-month contract opportunity. This role sits within a dynamic, fast‑paced environment where procurement plays a critical role in enabling business outcomes across Canada.

The Procurement Specialist will provide end‑to‑end procurement support across multiple indirect spend categories. This role involves close collaboration with internal stakeholders, regional and global category teams, and external suppliers to ensure sourcing, contracting, and procurement activities are executed efficiently, compliantly, and with strong business judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and prioritize day to day procurement activities across purchase to pay processes, ensuring compliance with internal procurement policies while adapting to evolving business needs
  • Promote the use of preferred suppliers and reduce unnecessary new supplier requests through education and stakeholder engagement
  • Identify opportunities to simplify and improve procurement processes, contributing to clearer guidelines, templates, and support models
  • Deliver a high level of customer service to internal partners, balancing multiple requests and making informed decisions with incomplete or evolving information
  • Own the end to end contracting lifecycle, including:
  • Selecting appropriate contract templates and contracting approaches
  • Managing renewals and new contract creation
  • Leading negotiations and renegotiations of commercial terms to mitigate risk and maximize value
  • Overseeing contract tracking and reporting
  • Lead sourcing initiatives (RFPs/RFQs) for services, evaluating proposals and advancing recommendations using sound judgment
  • Partner with Global and Regional Category Leads to translate global category strategies into effective local execution
  • Work cross functionally to manage risk, align stakeholders, meet deadlines, and ensure follow through in a complex environment
  • Analyze procurement and financial data to generate insights and recommendations that support timely decision making

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive procurement experience, ideally within a global or highly regulated organization
  • Post‑secondary diploma or degree in Procurement, Business, Finance, Supply Chain, or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated experience leading sourcing initiatives aligned to enterprise procurement strategies
  • Background in indirect procurement categories
  • Working knowledge of SAP and Coupa
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (pivot tables, lookups, conditional formatting), Word, and PowerPoint
  • Solid understanding of contract negotiations, commercial terms, and contract lifecycle management
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder‑management skills
  • Clear, concise communication and presentation abilities (written and verbal)
  • Strong influencing, negotiation, analytical, and evaluation skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
