Project / Senior Geologist

Murchison Minerals Ltd. is seeking a Project / Senior Geologist to support and manage its exploration programs.

The position will involve program planning and execution, geological interpretation, drill program management and target generation.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage diamond drilling and field exploration programs
  • Supervise core logging, sampling and QA/QC
  • Manage and mentor junior geologists and field personnel
  • Coordinate contractors and exploration service providers
  • Interpret geological, geochemical, geophysical and structural datasets
  • Develop and maintain 3D geological models
  • Generate and prioritize exploration targets
  • Review and integrate historical exploration data
  • Prepare drill plans, sections, maps and technical figures
  • Assist with exploration budgets, scheduling and logistics
  • Maintain geological databases and data quality
  • Prepare technical and assessment reports
  • Ensure exploration activities meet company health and safety requirements
  • Participate directly in field programs, core logging and other exploration activities as required
  • Qualifications

    • B.Sc. or higher in Geology, Geological Sciences or a related discipline
    • Approximately 7+ years of mineral exploration experience
    • Registered as a P.Geo. or eligible for registration in Saskatchewan
    • Experience planning and managing drilling and field exploration programs
    • Strong core logging, geological interpretation, 3D modelling and target-generation skills
    • Experience supervising junior staff, field crews and contractors
    • Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices, including field-level risk assessment and working safely in remote environments
    • Valid Class 5 driver’s license
    • Standard First Aid/CPR certification, or willingness to obtain
    • Ability to work at remote exploration sites and handle drill core and field equipment weighing up to approximately 50 lb (23 kg)
    • ATV/UTV and small-boat operating experience considered an asset

    Experience with VMS or base-metal exploration, metamorphosed and structurally complex terranes, Leapfrog Geo, QGIS/ArcGIS and MX Deposit would be considered an asset.

    Location: Saskatchewan, including remote field assignments
