As the regulatory body for over 2,000 Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRTs) across Alberta, CRTA’s mandate is clear: to protect the public by ensuring RRTs are qualified, competent, and ethical in their practice. The Registrar serves as the College’s chief executive and regulatory authority, reporting directly to Council. What You Will Be Doing:
- Provide executive leadership for the College’s regulatory mandate, ensuring all functions—such as registration, professional standards, conduct, and competence—are carried out in alignment with legislation, ethical principles, and best practices.
- Serve as the senior advisor to Council, fostering effective governance through strategic insight, policy guidance, and transparent reporting to enable informed decision-making.
- Drive the development and execution of strategic and operational priorities, ensuring the College remains responsive, accountable, and aligned with its mandate to protect the public interest.
- Oversee financial planning and reporting, risk management, and resource stewardship to support the long-term sustainability, compliance, and effectiveness of the organization.
- Act as the primary representative of the College, building collaborative relationships with stakeholders, government, and the public while leading communications that promote transparency, trust, and engagement.
Who You Are:
- Diploma in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program and either registered or eligible to register as an RT in Alberta.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Health Administration, Leadership, Public Policy, Education, or Business). A Master’s degree is an asset.
- Proven executive leadership experience, ideally within a healthcare regulatory or professional governance organization.
- Strong understanding of the Health Professions Act, regulatory processes, and public protection.
- Financial acumen, including budgeting, audits, and fiscal oversight.
- Exceptional relationship-building, policy development, and communication skills.
