If you are an aspiring translation professional who loves to push the boundaries of what is possible, then this might be the role for you. We are a small, close-knit team, looking for someone who can jump in and make an immediate impact.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Verify and approve applications of Japanese volunteer translators;
  • Identify and report mismatches in strings/text
  • Provide the correct translation, and where applicable fix directly via text database
  • Provide context for foreign language defects
  • Work closely with other translation team members
  • Must be dependable and punctual
  • Create and maintain a lexicon, or terminology guide
  • Liaise with colleagues to ensure that translations are true to the original meaning 

What you’ll need to be successful: 

Must Haves:

  • Must be able to provide accurate idiomatic translations of non-technical material using correct syntax and expression from English to Japanese and vice versa.
  • Mastery of the Japanese language: writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with a diligent eye for detail, language, flow, and grammar.
  • Ability to work under pressure, multi-task, manage multiple deadlines, and unexpected assignments.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Teams. 

Nice to haves: 

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Translation, Literature, or similar field, or experience as a translator a plus
    • Experience with CAT Tools (Phrase, SDL Trados, memoQ) a plus.
