Description

Under the responsibility of the Purchasing Manager, the position holder oversees and coordinates all purchasing of accessories in Canada.

  • Analyses the entire supply chain, identifies and evaluates potential suppliers and opportunities to reduce costs and increase value
  • Negotiates, administers and reviews purchase contracts with regional or local Canadian vendors (price, schedule, quality, and terms) for products, materials, and/or services in conjunction with Corporate Purchasing
  • Establishes long-term partnerships to ensure a reliable and cost-effective supply chain. May have to source certain commodities. This would include local or regional Canadian suppliers
  • Consults with Product Line Manager and other company employees to gather necessary information to move to procure required accessories in the most effective fashion and at the best value to the company. Verifies all required information for the proper specifications of purchase requests
  • Maintains knowledge of industry factors that impact the procurement process and reacts to changes in product availability, price, quality, and other value factors in conjunction with Corporate Purchasing
  • Maintains communications between suppliers, Corporate Purchasing and end-users
  • Confers with suppliers and monitors quality, service, timeliness delivery and other factors impacting total value to the company of purchased items, or other service issues.
  • Monitors and controls inventory distribution for new product launches initiated in the plant(s)
  • Responds as required by QMS procedures for any non-compliance issues using non-conformity reports and appropriate follow up to insure effective solutions are established and implementation of effective corrective actions
  • Places orders for the items that are below minimum levels and required according to the various stock status reports. Issues PO’s to suppliers accordingly
  • Reviews min/max inventory reports on stock items and recommends amendments
  • Coordinates and does a daily follow-up on delivery dates, quantity, price to coincide with the company needs
  • Promptly informs the Purchasing Manager and PLM about critical situation and agrees with their actions (proactive and corrective) to be activated.
  • Creates item specific forecasts over a rolling time span to be used for ordering and inventory management purposes
  • Plans inbound containers to minimize volumes maintained while ensuring availability
  • Assists with verification/matching of documents
  • Assists with invoice processing and discrepancy reconciliation
  • Assists with preparation of cost analysis and consumption reports
  • Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions
  • Does data entry
  • Participates in physical inventory
  • Any other related tasks

Competencies

  • Education: CD with 5 years experience in a similar environment or BAC, an asset
  • Member of the Canadian Purchases Management Association, an asset
