🚀 Data Engineer – Workday / Informatica IDMC / Oracle (Remote, Canada – Contract)

Our client is looking for a hands-on Data Engineer to join a complex Workday data extraction and archival program.

This is an opportunity to work on a highly technical initiative, extracting and preserving the full historical employee data estate from a legacy Workday environment and loading it into a governed Oracle on-premises archive.

🔧 What you’ll be doing. You’ll design, build, and operate extraction pipelines across a large Workday environment, covering a substantial number of API endpoints and multiple HR domains.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Building extraction pipelines using Informatica Cloud (IDMC/IICS) and Workday connectors
  • Extracting structured data, documents, and attachments from Workday
  • Working with Workday Web Services, RaaS, and custom reports
  • Sequencing and optimizing API-driven extraction processes
  • Loading and modeling data in an Oracle on-premises environment
  • Preserving effective-dated employee history and Workday object relationships
  • Building validation and reconciliation processes to ensure data completeness and accuracy
  • Maintaining referential integrity across worker, position, organization, compensation, payroll, and benefits data
  • Implementing security, encryption, access, and audit controls
  • Supporting migration dry runs, cutover, defect resolution, and hypercare

🎯 What we’re looking forYou should bring strong hands-on experience with:

✅ Informatica Cloud – IDMC / IICS

✅ Workday integrations and data extraction

✅ Workday Web Services / RaaS / Custom Reports / APIs

✅ Oracle databases

✅ Strong SQL and relational data modeling

✅ Data migration, extraction, or archival programs

✅ Data validation, reconciliation, and data quality engineering

✅ Working with complex effective-dated / historical data

✅ Handling sensitive personal data in controlled environment

Experience with Power BI, large-scale archival programs, and Workday/Informatica connector setup would be a plus.

💡 Why this role? This is not a standard ETL project.

The challenge is to extract a complex, highly interconnected Workday data set while ensuring that historical employee records, relationships, documents, and business process history remain complete, accurate, and fully auditable.
