The Senior Engineer will lead projects, support Agency initiatives, mentor colleagues, and foster client relationships and business opportunities.<br/><br/>Responsibilities<br/><br/>Provide engineering services and lead projects involving the development, design, construction and commissioning of municipal water, wastewater, biosolids and stormwater projects.<br/><br/>Act as a water/wastewater consultant, advising clients on engineering, contractor management, environmental compliance, capital planning and rate setting.<br/><br/>Prepare engineering and project management proposals and partner with business development to supply technical content.<br/><br/>Offer onsite and remote technical, project management, and engineering advice to OCWA clients in Ontario, working with regional operations teams.<br/><br/>Develop scope, cost estimates, specifications, tender documents, technical reports and approvals; administer contracts and ensure compliance with engineering practices.<br/><br/>Communicate with clients through technical reports, memos and presentations, providing clear recommendations and solution pathways.<br/><br/>Lead project engineers to deliver engineering, construction administration and consultative services, ensuring objectives, risk monitoring, timelines and budgets are met.<br/><br/>Collaborate with external consulting engineers to complete designs, permit applications and technical assessments; guarantee compliance with legislation and standards.<br/><br/>Generate project opportunities and cultivate client and industry relationships to support OCWA’s business goals.<br/><br/>Mandatory Requirements<br/><br/>Licensed Professional Engineer in good standing with the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO); must provide a copy of the PEO QR code at application.<br/><br/>Degree in Chemical, Civil, Environmental or Water Resources Engineering from a recognized university (asset).<br/><br/>Valid G driver’s licence or equivalent recognized in Ontario.<br/><br/>Willingness to travel across Ontario, including to remote locations, using various modes of transportation.<br/><br/>Ability to work outdoors in varied weather and physical conditions; may include confined spaces, ladder work or prolonged standing and walking.<br/><br/>Maintain and use assigned OPS assets and safety equipment as prescribed.<br/><br/>Knowledge<br/><br/>Technical knowledge of Chemical, Civil or Environmental engineering with specialization in water and wastewater fields.<br/><br/>Understanding of design, operation and regulation of complex wastewater systems and municipal sewage, biosolids, stormwater and industrial wastewater.<br/><br/>Familiarity with PMBOK methodology and best practices for managing multiple projects with varying scope, budget and resources.<br/><br/>Risk management and assessment skills to evaluate high‑risk issues and recommend options to senior management.<br/><br/>Financial literacy to maintain fiscal control over resources and achieve financial targets for water and wastewater projects.<br/><br/>Knowledge of federal and provincial legislation, guidelines and best practices for compliance with water and wastewater regulations.<br/><br/>Proficiency in engineering software and office productivity tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, database packages) for analysis, reporting and presentations.<br/><br/>Understanding of government approval processes, protocols and evaluation techniques for project planning, implementation and review.<br/><br/>Skills and Ability<br/><br/>Excellent communication, client relations and negotiation skills.<br/><br/>Strong analytical, consultation and problem‑solving abilities with critical thinking.<br/><br/>Excellent qualitative and quantitative research, planning and evaluation skills.<br/><br/>Effective presentation skills with experience recommending engineering technologies to diverse audiences.<br/><br/>Ability to prepare proposals, technical documents, reports and guidelines.<br/><br/>Exceptional organizational skills, prioritization and ability to meet strict deadlines.<br/><br/>How to Apply
