Senior Manager, Cloud Development at Samsung Electronics Canada. This hybrid role combines strategic planning, technical design, and hands‑on development to deliver scalable, secure, and efficient cloud‑based solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The role also involves designing, developing, and deploying AI/ML models to solve complex business challenges.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Translate business needs into technical specifications by understanding, conceptualizing, and implementing requirements.
  • Analyze, develop, test, and implement new software programs, and prepare documentation.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance and troubleshooting of systems.
  • Ensure code and configuration meet security, logging, and error handling performance standards.
  • Follow release management process and apply version control procedures.
  • Ensure high availability and fault tolerance through multi‑region deployments and load balancing.
  • Utilize tools like Cloud Billing, Cloud Asset Inventory, and BigQuery to monitor and optimize cloud costs.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) and organizational policies.
  • Develop cloud‑native applications using GCP services such as App Engine, Cloud Functions, and Firebase.
  • Integrate AI/ML models with cloud platforms.
  • Write clean, maintainable code in languages such as Python, Java, or Go.
  • Integrate GCP services with third‑party APIs and existing systems.
  • Develop APIs and microservices to connect AI solutions with applications.
  • Optimize database queries and storage configurations for faster response times.
  • Use Cloud Monitoring, Logging, and Error Reporting to track system health and performance.
  • Implement automated alerts and incident management workflows.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning with Terraform or Deployment Manager.

Education

  • College diploma minimum or higher.
  • Relevant IT certifications are an asset.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Proficiency in languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, Go, Node.js.
  • Knowledge of machine learning techniques and models.
  • Practical experience in building, deploying, and managing applications on GCP.
  • Experience with scripting for automation and task automation.
  • Experience with compute services (Compute Engine, GKE, App Engine, Cloud Functions).
  • Experience with storage services (Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, Firestore, BigQuery).
  • Experience with networking (VPC, Cloud Load Balancing, Cloud CDN, Cloud Interconnect).
  • Knowledge of security best practices, encryption, and user access control.
  • Experience with data and AI services (BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, AI Platform).
  • Experience with DevOps tools (Cloud Build, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, CircleCI).
  • Experience with IaC tools like Terraform or Deployment Manager.

Experience

Relevant IT certifications are an asset.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary range: $105,000 to $145,000 (base salary only). Actual pay may vary based on job‑related knowledge, competencies, qualifications, relevant skills, and experience.
