Senior Manager, Payroll & Compliance

$120,000 – $140,000 + Performance Bonus + Comprehensive Benefits

Envy Consulting Group is partnering with a well-established and growing multi-site organization to recruit a Senior Manager, Payroll & Compliance. This is a rare opportunity for an experienced payroll professional to step into a highly visible leadership role overseeing complex payroll operations across multiple locations and business entities. Reporting directly to the Head of Human Resources and working closely with the Chief Financial Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring payroll accuracy, compliance, operational excellence, and strategic decision-making across the organization. You’ll inherit a stable and knowledgeable team of five payroll professionals, each with more than five years of tenure, allowing you to focus on leadership, process improvement, system optimization, and supporting the organization’s continued growth.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Leading end-to-end payroll operations across multiple locations and employee groups, including salaried, hourly, and commissioned employees
- Ensuring payroll is processed accurately, on time, and in full compliance with all federal and provincial legislation
- Overseeing statutory deductions, remittances, pensions, benefits, garnishments, WSIB, EHT, and year-end reporting
- Managing payroll audits, reconciliations, internal controls, and compliance initiatives
- Leading, mentoring, and developing a high-performing payroll team
- Acting as the organization’s subject matter expert for Payworks and driving continuous process improvements
- Partnering closely with HR, Finance, and operational leaders to enhance reporting, controls, and efficiency
- Supporting acquisitions, integrations, and organizational growth initiatives from a payroll perspective
- Providing payroll reporting, analytics, and recommendations to senior leadership
What We’re Looking For
- PCP or CPM designation required
- 7+ years of progressive payroll experience, including leadership responsibility
- Experience managing payroll within a complex, multi-site or multi-entity environment
- Advanced Payworks experience
- Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, statutory remittances, WSIB, EHT, pensions, and benefit administration
- Proven ability to lead teams, improve processes, and manage competing priorities
- Experience within retail, automotive, distribution, manufacturing, or other multi-location organizations is considered a strong asset
- Experience supporting payroll integrations, acquisitions, or unionized environments is an asset
