With deep expertise in urban and rural planning, civil engineering, architectural design and environmental sciences, the firm is known for strong technical coordination and rigorous project governance. This is an exciting opportunity to join a privately owned growing firm with a passion for supporting and growing its people internally.

We are seeking a senior, certified Civil Project Manager to take full ownership of the end-to-end land development lifecycle, from strategic planning and technical design certification to project delivery and regulatory compliance in Ontario. This client-facing role requires a leader who can manage detailed schedules and budgets, mentor a multidisciplinary engineering team, and actively drive new business development by cultivating strong client relationships and securing new streams of revenue.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all phases of land development projects, including planning, design, permitting, and construction.
  • Develop detailed project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
  • Monitor project progress and performance, ensuring deliverables are met on time and within budget.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
  • Prepare and submit timely estimates for requests for proposals and follow up on submitted proposals.
  • Facilitate the preparation of civil engineering designs and technical drawings for land development projects, including grading, drainage, utilities, and site layouts.
  • Review and approve engineering designs, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Stamp and certify project designs and reports as required under Ontario engineering regulations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and providing project updates.
  • Conduct regular meetings and presentations to communicate project status and milestones.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships to ensure satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Actively pursue new business from existing clients, pursue new clients and new streams of revenue.
  • Ensure all projects adhere to municipal, provincial, and federal regulations, including environmental and zoning requirements.
  • Prepare and submit permit applications, reports, and documentation to regulatory authorities.
  • Interface with municipal staff and other agencies to obtain necessary approvals.
  • Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of engineers, designers, and technicians.
  • Foster collaboration and communication across teams to achieve project goals.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices.
  • Prepare project cost estimates and manage budgets effectively.
  • Identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies to minimize financial impacts; assist in the preparation of proposals, bids, and contracts.
  • Collaborate with Senior Management to establish, track, report on and be accountable to KPIs.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) license, registered and in good standing with the relevant provincial or territorial association.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in civil engineering, with a significant focus on land development and municipal infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects through the entire lifecycle, including conceptual design, detailed design, permitting, tendering, and construction administration.
  • Water Management and Stormwater Design: deep technical proficiency in hydrological and hydraulic modeling.
  • Demonstrated experience in a senior technical or project management role, mentoring junior staff and reviewing work for technical accuracy and compliance.
  • Excellent client-facing and communication skills, with experience coordinating with developers, municipal staff, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage project budgets and schedules, including the preparation of detailed engineering cost estimates and scope proposals.

Qualifications (summary)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) license
  • 8+ years in civil engineering with land development focus
  • Strong project management, client-relations, and leadership skills
