Location: Project site in northern Quebec, with mix of site presence and work from home

Work Arrangement: Independent Contractor

Length of Contract: Multi-year project with renewable annual contracts

Fluent French (spoken and written) is required, with good English communication skills for documentation and coordination with head office.

An exciting opportunity to join a leading global gold producer and support the delivery of a major mining project in the Abitibi region of Québec.

This is a high-impact opportunity for an experienced Lead Scheduler, Lead Planner, or Senior Project Controls Planner who can take ownership of a complex Primavera P6 schedule, build realistic execution plans from evolving engineering information, and work closely with engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, contractors, and project controls teams.

You will be the go-to planning professional responsible for ensuring the project schedule reflects how the work will actually be executed in the field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own, develop, and maintain the integrated Primavera P6 master schedule for the Project.
  • Build detailed schedules from incomplete or evolving engineering information, using your understanding of construction sequencing and field execution to develop realistic activities and logic.
  • Translate multidisciplinary scopes — including civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and commissioning — into a fully integrated and constructible project schedule.
  • Establish strong schedule logic and sequencing, ensuring activities are properly linked and the schedule accurately reflects the project execution strategy.
  • Lead critical path analysis and schedule quality reviews, including the review of constraints, lags, float, activity durations, logic, and overall schedule integrity.
  • Maintain realistic schedule forecasts and ensure the schedule remains aligned with project milestones and execution requirements.
  • Review, challenge, and integrate contractor and supplier schedules into the overall project master schedule.
  • Assess contractor sequencing, durations, logic, and progress to ensure schedules are realistic, achievable, and aligned with the project’s critical path.
  • Update the schedule and support the development of S-curves, manpower curves, progress reporting, and schedule KPIs.
  • Work closely with Project Controls to support analysis of planned versus earned hours, progress measurement, and overall schedule performance.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, contractors, and project controls to maintain an accurate and executable project plan.

Your Profile:

  • 8+ years of experience in project planning and scheduling, including at least 5+ years of Primavera P6 experience.
  • Strong experience on large mining, heavy industrial, EPC, EPCM, processing plant, infrastructure, or major construction projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to build detailed Primavera P6 schedules from the ground up, including when engineering and project information are incomplete or still evolving.
  • Strong understanding of how work is executed in the field, with the ability to translate engineering scope and construction requirements into realistic activities and sequences.
  • Proven experience integrating engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning into an integrated master schedule.
  • Strong understanding of schedule quality, including activity logic, constraints, lags, float, durations, and critical path analysis.
  • Experience with S-curves, manpower curves, progress measurement, planned versus earned hours, and schedule KPIs.
  • Ability to review and challenge contractor schedules constructively, ensuring alignment with project milestones and the overall execution strategy.

You are:

  • A creative and autonomous planner who can develop a plan without waiting for every detail to be provided.
  • A practical, constructability-focused scheduler who understands how the work will actually be executed in the field.
  • Structured and detail-oriented, while remaining pragmatic and focused on the schedule drivers that matter most.
  • A strong communicator who can challenge and influence engineers, contractors, project controls professionals, and management.
  • Comfortable working in a site-based mining environment and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Fluent French is required, with good English for documentation and coordination with head office.

Project Location & Rotation:

Major Mining Project, Abitibi region, Québec

  • Mix of site-based and home-based work, with a rotation such as 4 days on site / 3 days off one week and then working from home the 2nd week on alternating weeks.
