Senior Project Controls Lead – Heavy Civil / Infrastructure Construction

Skyline Recruitment is partnering with a leading Canadian construction contractor to hire an experienced Senior Project Controls Lead.

Our client is an established contractor delivering major infrastructure, heavy civil, and energy projects across Western Canada. This position will provide project controls leadership and support across multiple projects, helping improve consistency, reporting, forecasting, scheduling, and overall project performance.

The successful candidate will bring strong experience across cost control, scheduling, forecasting, earned value, progress measurement, and project reporting, with the ability to work closely with both corporate and project-based teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support project controls activities across multiple construction projects
  • Develop, implement, and maintain project controls processes, systems, and reporting standards
  • Establish and maintain cost reporting and forecasting systems
  • Monitor project costs, progress, productivity, earned value, and schedule performance
  • Develop accurate cost-to-complete and project completion forecasts
  • Support the development and maintenance of detailed project schedules
  • Monitor critical path, schedule performance, manpower loading, and project milestones
  • Analyse cost and schedule trends and identify potential risks or performance issues
  • Prepare weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly project controls and management reports
  • Develop and maintain WBS and CBS structures and ensure accurate cost coding
  • Support change management, change order estimates, cost analysis, and project forecasting
  • Track physical progress, labour hours, subcontractor performance, and project productivity
  • Identify schedule or cost deviations and support recovery and mitigation planning
  • Work closely with project management, commercial, finance, operations, and field teams
  • Support project teams with project controls best practices and reporting requirements
  • Identify opportunities to improve and standardize project controls processes across the organization

Requirements:

  • 6+ years of project controls experience within construction or a major project environment
  • Strong experience with cost control, scheduling, forecasting, earned value, and progress measurement
  • Background within heavy civil, infrastructure, industrial, energy, oil & gas, or similar construction environments
  • Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6
  • Proven understanding of construction project delivery, cost structures, scheduling, and project management methodologies
  • Experience developing cost forecasts and analysing project performance and trends
  • Ability to interpret project data and communicate risks, trends, and recommendations to senior leadership
  • Experience working with project teams, field operations, commercial teams, and finance
  • Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related technical qualification preferred
  • PMI or similar professional certification considered an asset
  • Experience with Hard Dollar, TILOS, Power Platform, or similar project controls systems considered an asset
