We’re Hiring: Senior Project Planner

Our client, one of the world’s largest gold producers, is seeking an experienced Senior Project Planner to join a major capital projects team supporting one of Canada’s largest and longest-life gold mining operations.

This is a unique opportunity to join a high-performing Capital Projects team responsible for planning and scheduling a diverse portfolio of mining infrastructure and sustaining capital projects. Working across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities, you’ll play a critical role in developing integrated schedules, optimizing project execution, and supporting strategic decision-making across the capital portfolio.

The ideal candidate will have extensive mining project planning experience, advanced Primavera P6 expertise, and a strong background managing complex EPCM capital project schedules within a fast-paced environment.

🎗️ Key Responsibilities:

📊 Develop, maintain, and optimize integrated master schedules across multiple capital projects with varying stages of engineering and execution

🛰️ Consolidate individual project schedules into an overall Capital Projects master schedule to provide accurate portfolio visibility

🏆 Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and coaching to project planners while promoting planning best practices Coordinate planning activities and manage stakeholder expectations across Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Project Controls, and Operations teams

📈 Develop resource-loaded Primavera P6 schedules from conceptual engineering through project execution and commissioning

⚙️ Implement change management processes within project schedules and assess schedule impacts resulting from scope, engineering, or execution changes

📉 Monitor project performance, resource utilization, and schedule progress while identifying critical path impacts and recovery opportunities

📂 Perform schedule risk analysis, evaluate Total Float and Free Float impacts, and recommend mitigation strategies

📅 Prepare and continuously update rolling 3-month look-ahead schedules for the Capital Projects portfolio and each EPCM division

📋 Produce month-end progress reports, executive dashboards, and portfolio-level schedule updates Identify long-lead procurement items and develop construction sequencing strategies to optimize project delivery

📦 Support project teams with schedule development, forecasting, progress measurement, and reporting throughout the project lifecycle

🎗️ Your Profile:

🏆 Minimum 10 years of project planning and scheduling experience within mining or major capital project environments

⛏️ Proven experience supporting mining operations, mine expansions, or large-scale industrial capital projects

📊 Advanced proficiency with Primavera P6, including resource-loaded scheduling and baseline schedule development

📈 Extensive experience developing project schedules from conceptual engineering through detailed execution

⚙️ Strong understanding of EPC/EPCM project delivery methodologies

📉 Experience performing critical path analysis, schedule risk assessments, and change management

📅 Strong knowledge of resource planning, forecasting, progress measurement, and schedule reporting

💼 Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering, procurement, construction, and project controls teams

🤝 Excellent communication, stakeholder management, leadership, and problem-solving skills

🏔️ Experience working at remote mining operations is considered a strong asset

🎗️ Location & Rotation:

📍 Site Presence split between Mine Project Site and the Project Office, with work from home on alternating weeks (see below)

🏔️ Rotation schedule:

• Week 1: 4 days onsite / 3 days off

• Week 2: 5 days working from home / 2 days off

• Alternating weekly rotation
