Senior Engineer – Identity Governance (OIG)<br/><br/>As a Senior Engineer on the OIG team, you will be involved in development, design, and maintenance of our product to serve enterprise customers at scale. You will help architect and evolve our product features across various access governance personas, collaborating with engineering, product, and design to deliver secure, scalable, and delightful features.
Job Duties and Responsibilities<br/><br/>Take end‑to‑end ownership of feature areas — from technical design through implementation, testing, deployment, and post‑launch monitoring.
Design, build, and ship high‑quality, production‑ready features across the OIG system, with a focus on correctness, reliability, and performance.
Quickly deliver high‑quality bug fixes and handle customer‑reported issues.
Write clean, well‑tested, maintainable code and hold yourself and teammates to a high bar for engineering quality.
Partner with our Product Development, QA, and Site Reliability Engineering teams for scoping the development and deployment work.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities<br/><br/>5+ years of software engineering experience, with a demonstrated ability to independently own and deliver complex features in a production environment.
Experience in microservices, event‑driven architectures, APIs, and data modeling at scale.
Solid experience with one or more of: Java, Kotlin, Go, or equivalent JVM/cloud‑native languages used in Okta’s backend stack.
Practical experience building and operating distributed systems in a cloud environment.
Ability to produce clear technical designs and documentation, communicate trade‑offs effectively, and build consensus with teammates.
Strong debugging and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to navigate and reason about complex, multi‑service systems.
A track record of delivering features with high quality — including meaningful unit, integration, and end‑to‑end test coverage.
Good communication skills and a collaborative working style — comfortable working across engineering, product, and design.
Preferred<br/><br/>Experience building identity, access management, or governance (IAM/IGA) products or platforms.
Familiarity with workflow engines or approval/routing systems.
Experience working in multi‑tenant SaaS environments serving enterprise customers.
Practical experience building and operating distributed systems in a cloud environment (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
Education<br/><br/>B.S. Computer Science or equivalent.
Salary and Benefits<br/><br/>Annual base salary range for candidates located in Canada: $136,000—$187,000 CAD.
