About the Role
Brain Jar is looking for a talented Senior Sound Designer to join the Dead as Disco team. The best candidates will blend a passion for music with extensive experience creating high-quality sound effects for combat-oriented action games.
You will work as part of a cross-discipline team of musicians, artists, designers, and engineers – collaborating to deliver a seamless music-matched martial arts experience. You will be equally comfortable with digital SFX creation and traditional foley recording, and you will leverage your technical experience with Unreal Engine 5 to creatively solve problems and seamlessly integrate audio across a large variety of workflows.
Partnering with the Audio Director and game design to define and execute an audio aesthetic that enhances both music and gameplay. You will also collaborate with engineering to design, implement, and scale audio pipelines for new game features, integrate assets, and troubleshoot complex audio-related problems across multiple disciplines.
What You’ll Need
- Demonstrable experience and knowledge of FMOD, and effective implementation within UE5
- Proven ability to produce high-quality sounds matched to music-based gameplay
- Detailed knowledge of fighting game or music-based genre sound design, from both Japanese and Western titles
- Previous experience in a similar role, with creative independence and strong technical skills
- Ability to work with upstream and downstream departments effectively and respectfully
- A proactive, creative, and collaborative approach that thrives in remote conditions
- Self-managed and driven, capable of working independently without regular supervision
- A suitable home recording setup available for professional use
- Located within close proximity to professional recording studios, or with reliable access to professional recording facilities
- A background in music – musician, producer, vocalist, composer, or similar creative role
