Description

Who We Are

Dr. Dobias Natural Healing helps dogs live longer, healthier, happier lives through honest education and premium natural health products.

We are a small, close-knit remote team built around the work of holistic veterinarian Dr. Peter Dobias, who has spent over 30 years caring for animals and building a trusted global community of dog lovers.

We are a values-driven company — not chasing growth for growth’s sake, but committed to doing things right. We love dogs, we live healthy lives, and we want to work with people who mean that, not just say it.

The Role

We are looking for a hands-on Supply Chain & Manufacturing Manager to own the operational backbone of our business — from planning and purchasing through production, permits, shipping, fulfilment, and financial coordination — so the rest of the team can focus on the mission.

We have solid systems in place and are looking for someone to tune and strengthen what we have, not redesign everything on day one. In your first 90 days, your job is to learn deeply, build trust, and bring clarity. After that, you’ll help us improve thoughtfully.

What You’ll Own

🐾 Supply Chain & Inventory

  • Plan and place purchase orders based on demand, lead times, and constraints
  • Monitor stock levels, batches, lot numbers, and expiry dates across Canadian, US, and international locations
  • Anticipate shortages and communicate early — no surprises

🐾 Manufacturing & Vendor Management

  • Coordinate with contract manufacturers on production schedules, formulations, and quality documentation
  • Manage relationships with suppliers and 3PLs — hold them accountable with firmness and respect
  • Work through delays, documentation gaps, and quality issues calmly and methodically

🐾 Permits, Regulatory & Cross-Border

  • Manage permits, product registrations, and regulatory compliance for Canada, US, UK, and EU markets
  • Handle import/export documentation: commercial invoices, HS codes, certificates of origin, COAs, and more
  • Navigate government portals and agencies with patience and persistence
  • German or French is an asset for EU work — not required

🐾 Accounting & Bookkeeping Coordination

  • Work closely with our external accounting firm and bookkeeping team
  • Review and approve invoices, coordinate purchase orders, and ensure costs are accurately tracked
  • Track landed costs — what each product truly costs from factory to the customer’s door
  • Support cash flow visibility by flagging upcoming large orders and expenses in advance

🐾 Trademark & Legal Coordination

  • Liaise with trademark agents to track registrations, renewals, and filing deadlines across jurisdictions
  • Maintain organized documentation for intellectual property, regulatory filings, and certifications

🐾 Shipping, Fulfilment & 3PLs

  • Coordinate with 3PL partners in Canada and the US to ensure smooth inbound and outbound flows
  • Troubleshoot fulfilment issues and hold partners to agreed service levels
  • Support the coordination of new markets and warehousing arrangements

🐾 Systems, AI & Continuous Improvement

  • Work within our existing tools (Basecamp, spreadsheets, accounting software) and gradually improve them
  • Use AI tools to process documents, extract data, and streamline repetitive tasks — always with human review
  • Build and maintain simple, reliable trackers for inventory, POs, permits, and costs

Who You Are

  • You genuinely love dogs and understand why natural health matters for them
  • You live a healthy, active lifestyle and bring that energy to your work
  • You are calm, practical, and flexible — not thrown off by delays, administrative processes, or normal operational bumps
  • You learn how things work before you propose changing them
  • You communicate proactively, especially when things aren’t going to plan
  • You hold suppliers and partners accountable with both clarity and respect
  • You are comfortable with AI and modern tools and curious about how they can improve your work

Experience We’re Looking For

  • 4–8+ years in supply chain, logistics, operations, or manufacturing coordination — ideally with physical consumer products (natural health, supplements, food, cosmetics, or similar)
  • Hands-on experience with inventory planning, purchasing, and vendor/3PL management
  • Experience with permits, registrations, or regulatory compliance (any industry welcome)
  • Comfort coordinating with accounting teams, reviewing invoices, and tracking costs
  • Familiarity with cross-border shipping, customs documentation, and import/export processes
  • Comfort with spreadsheets, basic data tracking, and at least some exposure to AI tools
  • German or French language skills are a genuine asset but not required

Who This Is Not For

This role will not be a good fit if you:

  • Need to own and redesign tools and systems immediately upon arrival
  • Get frustrated or reactive with normal operational complexity, government processes, or administrative detail
  • Prefer high-level strategic work and don’t enjoy detailed, hands-on execution
  • Are not genuinely connected to dogs, natural health, or a small mission-driven company
  • Prefer a rigid corporate environment

Compensation & Details

  • Full-time, fully remote (Canada; BC or Alberta preferred)
  • Competitive manager-level salary commensurate with experience
  • Details discussed openly in the interview process

How to Apply

Send your resume and a short, real cover letter to and including:

  • A specific time you owned a permit or regulatory process from start to finish
  • How you handled stepping into a role with existing systems and tools you didn’t design
  • A time something in supply chain or manufacturing went sideways — what you felt and what you did
  • What dogs mean to you and why this company’s mission speaks to you

  • Generic cover letters applications will not be considered.
