Telecom Expense Management Analyst (Contract)

Location: Canada (9am – 5pm EST working hours)

Overview:

A large, multinational technology organization is seeking a Telecom Expense Management (TEM) Analyst to support its global mobility and telecom operations. This role focuses on billing accuracy, inventory management, mobility support, and vendor performance analytics.

The ideal candidate understands the telecom ecosystem, works well with stakeholders across IT and Finance, and has hands-on experience supporting mobility users and managing telecom expense lifecycles.

Key Responsibilities:

Telecom Billing & Cost Management:

  • Review monthly invoices for mobility, voice/data services, circuits, and related assets
  • Identify billing discrepancies and initiate/track dispute resolutions
  • Validate charges against approved rate plans and contracted pricing
  • Support budgeting, variance analysis, and cost-optimization initiatives

Mobility Support & User Services:

  • Assist employees with device upgrades, new activations, and account transitions
  • Troubleshoot mobility-related issues and coordinate escalations
  • Oversee device returns, plan changes, and service cancellations
  • Work closely with mobility vendors to meet SLAs and resolve issues

Inventory & Asset Accuracy:

  • Maintain an accurate inventory of mobile devices, SIMs, circuits, and service plans
  • Reconcile inventory records vs. telecom billing
  • Identify unused assets, misaligned plans, and opportunities for reduction

Vendor Management & Contract Support:

  • Collaborate with telecom carriers and mobility service providers
  • Support renewals, pricing reviews, and sourcing events
  • Track contract lifecycles and monitor SLA performance

Reporting & Analytics:

  • Build dashboards and metrics using Excel and Power BI
  • Report on monthly spend, trends, forecast variances, and optimization opportunities
  • Maintain process documentation and operational procedures

Required Skills:

  • Experience in TEM, telecom billing, mobility operations, or telecom financial analysis
  • Strong Excel (vlookup/xlookup, pivot tables, formulas)
  • Power BI reporting
  • Familiarity with TEM platforms (Tangoe, Calero, Sakon, MDSL, etc.)
  • Understanding of telecom vendors, mobility plans, and hardware lifecycle
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in enterprise environments
  • Knowledge of Oracle or other ERP systems for coding/invoices
  • Experience with ServiceNow or similar ITSM tools
  • Process improvement or automation background
