Talent Innovation Canada, or TICAN, powers Canada’s innovation economy by embedding the country’s brightest graduate talent into it’s most innovative firms, accelerating breakthrough technology development and growing Canadian IP. Focusing on the areas of biomanufacturing & bioscience, microelectronics & ICT, clean growth, and mobility, TICAN is supporting Canadian firms to be leaders in these critical sectors and ensuring access to a talent pipeline to support their long-term technology roadmaps. 

TICAN launched in late 2025 and is building the team to deliver this impactful vision. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the inaugural administrative and governance officer will have the opportunity to work alongside the founding team and board of directors as the organizational infrastructure and governance processes are built and the programming is delivered. As part of a rapidly growing start-up organization, the incumbent must be comfortable with some ambiguity and excited about the possibility to build something great. 

Key duties and responsibilities include:

Support for the TICAN Board of Directors and subcommittees of the board:

  • Build board packages and agendas in collaboration with executive team and the Chair of the Board
  • Secure venues and act as on-site point of contact for in-person meetings across Canada
  • Schedule and coordinate in-person meetings for the board of directors in various cities across Canada
  • Support and coordinate travel arrangements for board of directors to attend board meetings
  • Act as board secretariat at board meetings with accurate and timely meeting minutes and action items
  • Track action items from board meetings
  • Support work of multiple board sub-committees
  • Organize and coordinate in-person and virtual sub-committee meetings as required

Support for the TICAN executive team:

  • Provide administrative support to TICAN executive team in scheduling meetings and coordinating calendars
  • Liaise with external stakeholders to coordinate meetings with executive team as required
  • Provide general administrative and operational support to TICAN executive and operations staff team as required

  • 5 years of experience in a related role
  • Bilingual French and English
  • A university degree
