Description
The Applications Development Group Manager is a senior management position responsible for delivering results through engineering leadership combined with hands‑on design and implementation. This role leads by example to raise the technical bar across the organization, with a core focus on building and operating intelligent infrastructure and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) platforms that leverage AI to improve reliability, automation, and operational efficiency.<br/><br/>Responsibilities<br/><br/>Lead & Develop Engineering Teams: Manage software engineering teams, set goals, and own personnel responsibilities, including performance evaluations, hiring, and disciplinary actions.<br/><br/>Hands‑On Design & Development: Actively architect, design, and build complex software systems in Java or another programming language, applying strong computer science fundamentals, clean engineering practices, and scalable design.<br/><br/>Build AI‑Driven Applications: Lead the development of applications and tooling that embed AI capabilities – such as intelligent monitoring, automated root cause analysis, predictive alerting, and self‑healing systems.<br/><br/>Mentor & Upskill: Guide engineers across software and infrastructure disciplines, fostering technical rigor, continuous learning, and engineering craftsmanship.<br/><br/>Collaborate Across Functions: Partner with senior leaders, product teams, and stakeholders to align engineering work with business priorities.<br/><br/>Qualifications<br/><br/>10+ years of experience in software and systems development, with a strong foundation in computer science and software engineering best practices.<br/><br/>Strong hands‑on programming experience in Java; proficiency in Python or another language is a significant plus.<br/><br/>Proven experience designing and building AI‑powered applications end‑to‑end.<br/><br/>Demonstrated success leading large‑scale technology initiatives and delivering production‑grade results.<br/><br/>Deep expertise in system design, distributed systems, and software architecture.<br/><br/>Proficiency with modern technology stacks, including enterprise cloud platforms, microservices, and containerization/orchestration.<br/><br/>Advanced knowledge of testing, debugging, and software quality practices.<br/><br/>Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.<br/><br/>Education<br/><br/>Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.<br/><br/>Masters degree preferred.<br/><br/>Citi is an equal opportunity employer, and qualified candidates will receive consideration without regard to their race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, status as a protected veteran, or any other characteristic protected by law.<br/><br/>If you are a person with a disability and need a reasonable accommodation to use our search tools and/or apply for a career opportunity review, Accessibility at Citi.<br/><br/>View Citi’s EEO Policy Statement and the Know Your Rights poster.<br/><br/>#J-18808-Ljbffr
