Our client, a growing and progressive home builder based in Calgary, is seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager to lead overall operations and support the company’s next phase of growth. This is a hands‑on leadership role suited for someone who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment and brings a strong balance of operational expertise, financial acumen, and relationship management.<br/><br/>The Opportunity<br/><br/>Reporting to senior leadership, the General Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day and long‑term performance of the business. This role oversees all functional areas, ensuring alignment across construction, sales, customer experience, and corporate operations, while driving efficiency, profitability, and scalable growth.<br/><br/>Key Responsibilities<br/><br/>Provide overall leadership and direction across operations, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards<br/><br/>Oversee construction management teams including Construction Managers, Site Superintendents, and field operations, fostering accountability and performance<br/><br/>Lead and support corporate functions including estimating, design, warranty, and accounting<br/><br/>Partner closely with sales and marketing teams, including Area Managers, to align operational capacity with market demand and customer expectations<br/><br/>Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction throughout the homebuilding process<br/><br/>Lead P&L performance, with a strong focus on budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and overall profitability<br/><br/>Drive costing accuracy, margin improvement, and disciplined financial management across all projects<br/><br/>Establish and track key performance indicators, setting clear goals and ensuring alignment across departments<br/><br/>Identify and implement process improvements, systems, and technologies to enhance efficiency and scalability<br/><br/>Provide leadership in a fast‑paced, evolving environment, contributing to strategic planning and execution of growth initiatives<br/><br/>Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high‑performing culture across the organization<br/><br/>Qualifications & Experience<br/><br/>10+ years of progressive leadership experience within residential home building or a related construction environment<br/><br/>Proven track record in a senior operational leadership role, ideally at the General Manager, Director, or VP level<br/><br/>Strong understanding of construction operations, project management, and site execution<br/><br/>Solid financial acumen, including P&L oversight, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control<br/><br/>Experience overseeing cross‑functional teams, both in the field and in‑office<br/><br/>Demonstrated ability to improve systems, processes, and operational efficiency<br/><br/>Tech‑savvy with an openness to adopting and implementing new tools and platforms<br/><br/>Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate both strategically and tactically<br/><br/>Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills, with a client‑first approach<br/><br/>Why This Role<br/><br/>This is an opportunity to step into a key leadership role with a company that has ambitious growth plans and a strong reputation in the market.
