We are working with a boutique law firm with offices in Calgary and Vancouver in their search for a Business Legal Assistant. The firm practises in the area of corporate, commercial, immigration, employment and litigation. The team is 15-20 located in the heart of Calgary’s business community.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Assisting lawyers and paralegals involved in corporate and commercial law.
  • Managing files including searches, conflicts, retainers, opening, organizing, maintaining, billing and closing.
  • Drafting, formatting and revising email and letter correspondence, memos, agreements and other documents.
  • Conducting various searches for due diligence and other purposes.
  • Submitting documents for registration at Land Titles, Personal Property Registry and other registries.
  • Preparing closing books and assisting with organizing and updating corporate records.
  • Coordinating meetings in person and by video and teleconference and assisting with preparation for meetings.
  • Administration of time entry and billing of client files.
  • Performing other legal and administrative tasks assigned from time to time.

Ideal Candidate:

  • 2+ years of experience as a Legal Assistant.
  • Strong preference for Corporate or Commercial Law experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized, dependable and driven.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Positive attitude and adaptability to progressive technology and process improvement.
